It probably goes without saying, but if you want to cut down on stress at the kid’s table, you should opt out of using breakables with children. Instead, choose sturdy plastic or metal plates for kids. Pair the dishes with heavy-duty plastic cutlery or choose metal. Kids can make do with smaller utensils, so consider setting their table with dessert spoons and smaller forks from your standard set of silverware that may otherwise go unused on the adult table.
Napkins are a must with children, and a great way to include additional color on the table. Paper napkins cut out the extra laundry and there are many colors and patterns that can tie into a theme. Cloth napkins also work great; keep in mind that children are prone to spills so dark colors are always most ideal.
Kids love straws. Don’t worry about them blowing a few bubbles in their drinks; let them be kids and have their fun. Match the table décor or stick with something simple, but don’t forget these fun accents to the table.
