Mike Dunphy was born and raised in Burlington, Vermont. Following graduation at the University of Vermont, he joined the Peace Corps and spent the next ten years teaching English in Eastern Europe and Turkey. His career in journalism began in Istanbul, where he worked for Time Out magazine. After earning a master’s degree in publishing and writing at Emerson College in 2010, he moved to New York City, where he now works as a full-time freelance writer, editor, and photographer. His work has appeared in print and digital publications including USA Today, Fodor's, Travel & Leisure, Travel Weekly, Huffington Post, Metro NY, PBS, American Way, Beer Advocate, Hotel Scoop, and NewYork.com.
